Hear from one of the nation's most influential people in radiology today, Dr. Thomas Dehn!As computed tomography studies become more and more 'the norm' these days, patients may find themselves being exposed, over time, to higher-than-normal levels of radiation - especially when the patient is a child or a small adult. Overexposure during CT procedures can go easily unrecognized because, unlike typical x-ray procedures where the resulting film is overexposed and produces a dark image, CT images are uncompromised, even when the patient has experienced radiation overexposure.
What can you do to protect YOUR patients? In this live event, you'll consult with one of the nation's experts in the field of radiology - and wrap up with a clear understanding of what constitutes 'radiation overexposure' in a patient. Plus, gain knowledge regarding spacing of radiographic imaging studies, optimizing CT settings, elimination of inappropriate CT referrals, and reducing use of contrast materials to reduce exposure risks.HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL LEARN:

Thomas Dehn, MD, was named by Diagnostic Imaging Magazine as one of the nation's top twenty most influential people in radiology. He recently served as Chair of the American College of Radiology's Task Force on Managed Care, a position he accepted after a period of public service that parallels most of his career as a practicing diagnostic radiologist. He has served on the clinical faculty of the JCAHO, written several of the earliest articles on quality assurance in radiology and, in the past several years, organized and presented countless seminars on the inter-relationship of imaging appropriateness and healthcare reform. Dr. Dehn continues to publish information helpful to both radiologists and policy makers with respect to imaging economics. Dr. Dehn actively participated in the development of the Medicare Peer Review Program and served as the organizations National President for several years. In that capacity he frequently participated in congressional hearings on the cost and quality of healthcare and gained considerable knowledge of the evolving role of managed care at a time when it was thought of as an "alternate" delivery system. He participated in the founding and served as President of one of Milwaukee's largest IPA model HMOs and has consistently shared his knowledge with his colleagues.
